Day 69: Hanging Around Dungeness

Regrouping for the Final Leg of the Journey

Dungeness Spit Light House (taken from as close as I could get on the beach before sinking into the tidal flats)

Not much to report today-- we we spent it longing around the beach house in Dungeness.  Neither one of us felt fantastic this morning (we knew there would be days like this when we planned this trip-- thankfully there have not been too many), and we had a bunch to do to get ready for the last leg of our trip.

That means laundry, organizing and re-packing, and booking the hotels for the drive home which we plan to begin on Wednesday Oct 11th and to finish on Friday the 13th (never mind the potential bad luck associated with that).

But, we don't want to give the last piece short shrift, as we will be visiting some of the places I most looked forward to seeing--  Neah Bay on the Washington Pacific Coast, driving the northern part of the Oregon Coast, and staying in a historic Astoria hotel.

Back here at the beach house we saw plenty of "our bird" again.  The boat traffic also increased this afternoon and we enjoyed watching them cruise across the water.

The only real thing I did today (Bob stayed behind) was to take another walk along the beach.  I didn't find any unique shells this time, but I did snap a picture of the ocean-washed root structure of this large tree-- I just thought it was interesting to look at.

Ocean-Worn Root Structure

So, that's it for today.  More tomorrow with some video of the drive to Neah Bay.
