T-5: Packing Up & Clearing Out

Last Weekend at Home & Getting Ready to Go

Lisa's Suitcase-- Ready to Go

We can't believe that this is our last weekend at home before we leave on our Great Alaska Adventure-- but with only 5 days left, we've had to get ourselves in gear and really start getting ready to go.

Today, we took several important first steps.  We hired a nearby highschooler to watch the house while we're gone. We hosted lunch for her and family, and served up a spread of items that needed to be cleared from our fridge, freezer, and pantry.  We not only gave a run-through of the house and caretaker duties, we also sent them home with a care package of other food from our freezer and our pantry that needed a rescue.

The freezer is just about clear, as you can see.  Just ice for the Yeti, and Lisa's packages of low-carb tortillas that will also live in the Yeti.
An almost empty freezer 1-- just ice and low-carb tortillas headed for the Yeti

With two refrigerators, getting everything clear is going to be a challenge, but we're up for it.

We also gathered snacks and drinks from the pantry that Bob doesn't want to eat or take. (Note-- Red, White & Dew must be pretty awful, as even Bob doesn't want to drink it.)
Pile of food and drinks ready to be foisted on the PaySimple crew

These all go to PaySimple with Lisa tomorrow-- as that crew will consume anything.  Having a place to off-load instead of trashing is always a good thing.

Finally, we've packed the long-term suitcases, gathered all the coats (yes, multiple coats each), and started putting the overnight bags together.  (See main suitcase pic above.)

Definitely getting real now!
