Day 18: We Rested on the 18th Day Too

M Stays Put and Bob & Lisa Go Down To The River

Sunset Over the Mountains (taken from our cabin's kitchen window)

The lead-off picture for today's post was actually taken last evening from the kitchen window of our diminutive cabin as the sun was just starting to go down over the mountains. (Gene-- this one's for you!)  It is a nice little place to take a few days of downtime.

Today we slept in, had a late breakfast, and then decided to take the path down to the Yukon River.  It actually wasn't so much of a path as a gravel road that turned into a very deeply rutted dirt road (Lisa's kind of hike).   We even donned our hiking boots for this one (though sorry to report we forgot to take the feet shot).

Here are some pictures from the end of the road:

Storm Over the Distant Mountain (it never did reach us)

The Yukon River

And of course, the post wouldn't be complete without a shot of Bob touching water.  This time it is the real Yukon River.

Bob Touches the Yukon River (If you're counting: Bob Touching Water #5)

That storm we saw never did come or way.  We had a nice walk back, ate some lunch, and are just hanging around reading and relaxing for the rest of the day (hence the earlier than usual post).

Tonight we'll pack up and get ready for an early start in the morning for the final leg of our run to Alaska. We have one stop left in Canada-- outside Beaver Creek, YT and then we cross the border and get back to the USA on Wednesday.

M is all gassed up, cleaned up, and ready to go...
