Day 54: M Recovers in Seattle

M Is Better and Now Safe

M's First Stop After The Glass Shop
Short post today with only this one picture as we spent most of the day tending to M.  We waited around in the condo all morning until we got the call that she had emerged from surgery and was again equipped with 4 solid windows.  After receiving the call we headed over to the auto glass shop again (via Lyft), and picked her up.

They had done a pretty good job at getting all the glass out, but we were pleased to see that the shop was right up the street from the Elephant Car Wash, a Seattle Landmark (which btw was next to the Starbucks headquarters-- which we drove by inadvertently).

Luckily the person from who we rented this condo has another building where she rents condos about a 10 minute walk away from ours, that has a garage with access only if you have a garage door opener.  Luckily the people currently staying there do not have a car, so she was able to let us park there for the duration of our stay.  It took a bit of logistic maneuvering to get us the parking pass and garage door opener-- so we had some time to kill before we could get M safely back to the garage.

We took the opportunity to visit a glassblowing studio that we needed the car to get to, and bought a couple of souvenir pieces-- a glass seahorse and a glass carrot.  Both of these will make fun additions to our collection.

We also had lunch next door to the glass studio at Luna Park Cafe

Luna Park Cafe Sign (Bob Got a Free Sticker Like This)

The cafe got its name from a boardwalk park that existed in West Seattle in the early 1900’s. The cafe is designed to evoke the memory of Luna Park, and has a 1958 Seeburg Jukebox, other coin-ops like Pepe the Dancing Clown a mini Orchestra above the front door, and nostalgic decorations throughout.  (Read the history here.)  The food was 50's diner style and had breakfast all day-- but was a perfect menu for Bob and Lisa. I had a veggie omelet with fruit instead of potatoes; Bob had the Carnivore Pile which was two eggs over easy over a pile of potatoes, bacon, ham, sausage, and cheese. (This was the first time we had ever seen a "Pile" which may be some kind of Seattle thing.)

After lunch we headed off to take M to her new garage.  Once we got our parking tools, and safely settled M into her new garage-- we parked her behind a wall, so even if you're peering into the garage through the window you can't see her--we headed back to the market to buy dinner.  We ended up with local chicken (which was really good), vegetables, a bottle of French Cider, and some decadent French Brie.

The rain was pretty persistent all day, so we spent the rest of the evening relaxing in our condo, and breathing collective sighs of relief that we all (Bob, Lisa & M) came out of this ordeal relatively unscathed.

If the weather holds, the plan for tomorrow is to finally head over for some intense gallery hopping in Pioneer Square, and to perhaps partake in the guilty pleasure of the Seattle Underground Tour.

More tomorrow...
